The couch gets more use than any carpet in the house, and it shows first
Sofas absorb the dog, the toddler, the takeout and three years of sitting. Upholstery cleaning is carpet cleaning scaled down and done more carefully, because every fabric has a code and the wrong method shrinks, bleeds or waters-marks it. We read the tag, test a hidden spot, and clean accordingly.
The fabric on a sofa, a sectional or a dining chair carries a cleaning code on the tag under the cushion: W for water-based cleaning, S for solvent only, WS for either, X for vacuum only. The code decides what we do. A W or WS fabric, which is most of the microfibre, polyester and cotton-blend furniture sold in the last fifteen years, gets a pre-spray and hot-water extraction with a hand tool that sprays and recovers in the same stroke, leaving the fabric damp rather than wet. An S fabric gets a low-moisture solvent clean. A velvet, a silk blend or anything that looks delicate gets a test on a hidden spot first, every time, because a water ring on a cushion is permanent.
Clarksville furniture has a particular life. It moves house every couple of years, so it has been in a truck and a storage unit. It lives with pets; dog hair worked into a microfibre sectional and cat urine on a chair are routine calls, and we handle both, with enzyme treatment for the urine and the same honesty about what can be saved as on the pet page. And it is sat on by families, so body oils, sunscreen, food and drink build up on arms, headrests and seat cushions and show as darkening long before the rest of the fabric looks dirty. Those areas get extra pre-spray and dwell.
Mattresses are the other half of this page. A mattress collects skin, sweat, dust mites and, with children, the occasional accident; we clean the top surface by extraction, treat stains and odour, and dry it before it is made up, usually within a few hours. Headboards, ottomans, bar stools, office chairs and car interiors are all the same work. Furniture is cleaned in place, dried with air movers where the humidity calls for it, and we will say if a piece is too worn or too damaged for cleaning to help.
What the visit includes
Cleaning code read first
W, S, WS or X on the tag decides the method; a hidden-spot test on anything delicate before a drop of water touches it.
The right tool for fabric
Hand extraction tools that spray and recover in one stroke, or a low-moisture solvent clean for S fabrics.
Arms, headrests and cushions
The body-oil areas pre-sprayed and given dwell, because that is where upholstery actually gets dirty.
Pet hair and urine
Hair lifted from microfibre, urine treated with enzymes, and a straight answer about what a cushion has absorbed.
Mattresses
Top surface extracted, stains and odour treated, dried before the bed is made up.
Dried in place
Fabric left damp, not wet, with air movers where the day needs them, and a time before you sit down.

Questions about upholstery and mattress cleaning
Will cleaning shrink or water-mark my sofa?
Not if the cleaning code is followed and the piece is tested first. That is why we read the tag and test a hidden spot before cleaning anything that is not an obvious W fabric.
How long until I can sit on it?
Three to six hours for most fabrics, longer for thick cushions on a humid day; we leave air movers when it helps.
Can you get dog hair out of microfibre?
Yes. It takes a dedicated hair-lifting pass before the clean, and it is one of the most common calls in this town.
Can you clean a leather sofa?
Leather is cleaned and conditioned differently from fabric and we will say on the look-over whether it is work we take on or whether a leather specialist is the better call.
Is mattress cleaning worth it?
For stains, odour, allergies and anything a child or pet has done, yes. For a mattress that is sagging or past ten years old, usually not, and we will say so.
Do you clean car seats?
Yes, fabric seats and carpets, by the same methods, in your driveway.
